Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using KASTLR. By downloading, installing, or using the KASTLR application or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use KASTLR.
1. About KASTLR
KASTLR is a Windows 11 desktop customisation platform that allows users to switch between pre-configured desktop environments called Modes. KASTLR is operated by KASTLR (South Africa). Contact: hello@kastlr.com.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use KASTLR. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the service.
3. Accounts
KASTLR does not require an account to use the free tier. However, certain features (cloud sync, premium content, loadout sharing) require you to create an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@kastlr.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Free and Premium Tiers
KASTLR offers a free tier and a paid premium subscription (currently R39/month). The features included in each tier are described on our pricing page and may change over time.
We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features from either tier at any time. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes that materially reduce features available to existing paid subscribers.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Premium subscriptions are billed monthly. Payments are processed by PayFast. By subscribing, you authorise PayFast to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the KASTLR app (Settings → Account) or by contacting us. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.
Failed payments: If a payment fails, your subscription will be downgraded to the free tier. Your data will be retained for 30 days to allow you to reactivate.
All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include applicable taxes.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use KASTLR for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the KASTLR application
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of KASTLR's infrastructure
- Use KASTLR to distribute malware or harmful software
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from KASTLR's servers
- Impersonate another user or KASTLR staff
- Upload or share content that violates intellectual property rights, is defamatory, or is otherwise harmful
- Attempt to circumvent any feature gates, premium restrictions, or access controls
7. Windows System Modifications
KASTLR modifies Windows settings including wallpaper, taskbar colour, transparency, power plans, and notification settings. All modifications are made through documented Windows APIs and registry keys.
Reversibility: KASTLR stores original values before making any system change and restores them upon uninstall. However, we cannot guarantee that all system states can be perfectly restored in all circumstances, particularly if Windows has been updated or third-party software has made conflicting changes.
By using KASTLR, you acknowledge that system-level customisations carry inherent risk and accept responsibility for your system configuration. KASTLR is not responsible for any system instability arising from use of the app in combination with other system modification software.
8. Intellectual Property
KASTLR and all associated branding, code, design, and content are owned by KASTLR and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
Community wallpapers: Wallpapers submitted by artists retain their original copyright. By submitting content to KASTLR, artists grant KASTLR a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display and distribute that content through the platform. Artists may request removal at any time.
User content: You retain ownership of any Loadouts or configurations you create. By sharing them publicly through KASTLR, you grant other users a licence to use them.
9. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
10. Disclaimers
KASTLR is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all hardware and software configurations.
Use of KASTLR is at your own risk. We are not responsible for any data loss, system instability, or other harm arising from use of the app.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, KASTLR shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or system damage, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of KASTLR shall not exceed the amount you paid to KASTLR in the 3 months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to KASTLR at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
You may stop using KASTLR at any time by uninstalling the application and deleting your account.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email (if you have an account) or by posting a notice on the website at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of KASTLR after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of KASTLR shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
