The USD price is converted to ZAR using a live exchange rate from open.er-api.com at the time of each daily run. All ZAR prices on KASTLR reflect this daily snapshot. They are not real-time. Historical snapshots are stored permanently and power the trend charts above.
What the data represents
Avg Price — Mean zar_real across all tracked items in a category for that day. The cheapest available price across all third-party marketplaces.
Trade Volume — Total sold_7d units across a category. A rising volume trend before a price move is a meaningful signal.
Market Sentiment — Ratio of items up vs down within a category on that day. Above 50% = more items rising than falling. A useful macro signal when individual prices are noisy.
